Start Line and Wave Start Info
The Start Line is organized using a corral system. Corrals are designated starting areas for participants with similar estimated finishing times. Participants select their Start Line corral during the registration process. Corrals help provide a safe, fluid, and less congested race start. Each corral has a designated number of runners and walkers, and when a corral fills up it is closed. Corrals are first-come, first-served so register early to get your preferred corral. Individuals wishing to start together must select the same corral during registration.

Entry points to the Start Area will be determined by your assigned corral. Only registered participants are permitted in the Start Line area.

Zazzle Bay to Breakers will be employing a Wave Start for 2012. Please the Start Line Info Page for more information regarding the wave start

Rules of the Road
In order to guarantee a fun and safe race for everyone, please be mindful of the following "Rules of the Road."

  • Choose a corral that fits your finishing time so we can guarantee that corrals reflect the pace of the people in them. This makes for a better race overall for everyone.
  • Walkers and slower traffic stay to the RIGHT. Runners to the LEFT.  Please DO NOT block the faster runners who will be prodominantly on the left hand side of the course.
  • Do not run in from the sides of the race course; it could endanger you and/or other participants.
  • No wheeled objects are allowed. This includes strollers, baby joggers, shopping carts, floats, rollerblades, skateboards, bicycles, unicyles, or other wheeled objects. They are a safety issue in a crowded race.
  • No animals - for their safety as well as for the safety of all our participants.
  • During the race, stay on the roadbed. Sidewalks, adjacent streets and parks are not part of the course and are not monitored for safety hazards.

Toilets
More than 1,200 portable toilets for runners and spectators are located along the race course and at the Zazzle Final Mile.

Trash and Recycling
Leave no trace - Be kind to our neighborhood hosts and clean up after yourself. Please don't abandon costumes or trash. Waste Diversion Stations will be placed throughout the course at each mile marker for participants and spectators; please use the designated containers and help us keep San Francisco green.

First Aid
The Bay Area Chapter of the American Red Cross provides First Aid and Emergency Services for the race. Mobile teams move throughout the course.
