Bay to Breakers, KGO Radio Announce Partnership for 100th B2B Race
Partnership Continues 20-Year Tradition
San Francisco, Calif. (December 9, 2022) - Race organizers at Bay to Breakers announced today their official radio partnership with KGO Newstalk 810 Radio for the 100th running of the race on May 15, 2011. The announcement was made live on KGO Newstalk 810's newly returned Noon News program.
"We're pleased to continue our partnership with Bay to Breakers once again this year," said Deidra Lieberman, General Manager of KGO Newstalk 810. "Bay to Breakers is truly one of The City's brightest events and we are excited to celebrate their 100th year together."
The announcement of this partnership will mark the 21st year that the radio station has been a sponsor of the famous footrace from San Francisco Bay to the Pacific Ocean.
Originally known as the Cross City Race, Bay to Breakers was first held on January 1, 1912. In its first year 122 runners participated. The winner of the first race was Robert Jackson "Bobby" Vlught, with a time of 44:10. Since then Bay to Breakers has grown to be one of the largest footraces in the world with more than 50,000 participants and close to 100,000 spectators annually. The race has grown to be a celebration for everyone and exemplifies The City's irrepressible color and its affection for eclectic traditions.
"This year is a particularly exciting one for us, and we ready ourselves for the 100th running of this quintessential San Francisco race," said Angela Fang of Bay to Breakers. "We have always valued our partnership with KGO Newstalk 810 and are looking forward to working together again on this year's race."
