Zazzle Bay to Breakers 12K

The 101st running of Zazzle Bay to Breakers is Sunday, May 20, 2023 will be a day for San Francisco to be proud. For everyone's safety and enjoyment, race organizers and the San Francisco Police Department will enforce City ordinances regarding alcohol. Alcohol will be removed from the racecourse. Anyone publicly drinking or displaying public drunkenness on or along the racecourse will be subject to fines and prosecution. Additionally no headphones and no wheeled objects of any type, such as baby joggers, strollers, grocery carts, pets, roller blades, skateboards, or bicycles, will be allowed on the course.

WHAT TO EXPECT IN YOUR NEIGHBORHOOD
Wherever you live along the route, please be aware of all postings for No Parking Zones associated with the race.
Downtown, Howard Street and 9th Street
The Start Area of the race is located along Howard Street between the Embarcadero and Beale Streets; and encompasses Steuart, Spear, Main and Beale between Mission and Folsom Streets. Street closures in this area will begin on Saturday, May 19th at 4:00 PM as we install the infrastructure for our Start Area. The Fremont off-ramp from the I-80 will close at 4:00 AM on May 20th. In preparation for the start of the race, all cross streets along Howard, from Beale west to 9th Street, as well as 9th Street between Howard and Market, will begin to close at 6:00 AM. Just before 7:00 AM the race will begin. There will be live music just outside Moscone Center South from 7:00 AM to 11:00 AM. We anticipate having all these downtown arteries open between 10:00 AM and 11:00 AM on race day.
Civic Center and Hayes Valley
All cross traffic along Hayes Street from Market to Divisadero will begin to close at 6:00 AM in preparation for the race. Once runners cross Market Street at 9th Street they continue northwest along Hayes Street through the Civic Center and Hayes Valley neighborhoods. There will be live music from 7:00 to 11:00 AM at Larkin and Hayes and at Patricia's Green in Hayes Valley. We expect streets in the Civic Center and Hayes Valley neighborhoods to be open for vehicular traffic by 11:00 AM.
Alamo Square and Divisadero Street
We will begin installing race infrastructure, such as portable toilets and fencing, in and around Alamo Square beginning Saturday, May 19th. Cross streets along Hayes Street in this neighborhood will begin closing at 6:00 AM on race day, and are expected to re-open by 11:00 AM.
Divisadero Street between Grove and Oak Streets will close at 5:00 AM on race day to allow for the installation of protective fencing along the Divisadero median. Traffic on Divisadero is expected to resume by 11:30 AM.
Panhandle
Installation of portable toilets in the Panhandle and along the north side of Fell Street along the Panhandle will begin on Saturday, May 19that Noon. Installation of fencing along the Panhandle sections of the race will begin at 12:01 AM on race day. Streets along Fell Street between Divisadero and Stanyan will begin closing at 6:00 AM on race day, and are expected to re-open by 11:30 AM.
Golden Gate Park
Normal Sunday street closures for Golden Gate Park will be in effect on race day. Check our STREET CLOSURES PAGE (link to Street Closures page) for other street closures, related to the race, in Golden Gate Park.
The Great Highway
The Great Highway will be closed between Sloat and Fulton, from 5/19 at 9:00 PM to 5/20 at 2:00 PM – to facilitate the installation of our Finish Area. Local access for the Beach Chalet Restaurant will be available via the Great Highway and Fulton.
